Orta San Giulio represents a time of healing and renewed joy for us after Rebecca's cancer treatment. Its beauty and peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to celebrate our love.
Orta is a charming, picturesque village filled with narrow cobblestone streets, historic stone buildings, and small, lively piazzas. The town is known for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful lake views, and quaint cafés and boutiques. https://www.illagomaggiore.com/destination/orta-san-giulio/
We recommend visiting Villa Decio’s website and Instagram to get a feel for the space: https://www.villadecio.com/en/portfolio @villadecio
Orta is a small, pedestrian-friendly town, and the historic center is a restricted traffic zone (ZTL) for non-residents. Visitors must park outside the center, where both open-air and covered paid parking options are available. If you are staying within Orta, a car is not necessary. Private transfers can easily be arranged from the airport directly to your hotel and back. Please see the Travel section of this website for more details.
If you plan to explore beyond Orta San Giulio, renting a car may be helpful. However, for travel between Milan Malpensa Airport and Orta, we recommend arranging a private transfer in advance. Driving in the area can be challenging due to unfamiliar roads, tolls, and Italy’s Limited Traffic Zones (ZTLs). Additionally, Orta is primarily pedestrian, with restricted access to the town center.
Please see the Travel/Hotel Information section of this website for parking details. Some hotels in Orta offer on-site parking.
You may be able to take an Uber/Lyft from the airport to Orta San Giulio, but availability in town is limited. As a small town, Ubers/Lyfts are not always reliable for return trips to the airport. For a smooth and stress-free arrival and departure, we recommend pre-booking a private transfer.
