We met during our freshman year of college, seven years ago. I was in a four-year relationship at the time, and Dylan was just the guy in my first class who needed the math homework… or so I thought. The very first time I saw him, I was struck with this overwhelming feeling that I knew him. His face felt familiar, like someone I’d known in a past life. But there was no way — he had lived in Florida his whole life, and I grew up in New York. Still, something in me recognized him. It was as if my heart, brain, and body all said, “This person is meant to be in your life.” We became fast friends, and while Dylan played it cool, later he admitted he wasn’t really after the homework — he just wanted an excuse to talk to me. When he found out I had a boyfriend, it didn’t deter him. And truthfully, I couldn’t keep away from him either. There was something magnetic between us that neither of us could ignore. What followed was a two-year long dance — constant talking, emotional closeness, and wondering how on earth this could ever work when we lived so far apart. But then came that day — a NY Giants game that changed everything. It felt so natural being together. We knew then and there: this was real. And we had to try. Fast forward to 2020: I uprooted my life during COVID and moved to Florida (the most insane thing I've ever done). Dylan moved out of his parents' house (he absolutely did not need to start paying rent, yet he did), and we both faced the reality of adulting and rent for the first time — just to be together. We were only 20 and 21. Now, five years later, we’ve built a life we’re proud of. We’ve grown in our careers, share a home full of love (and fur — thanks to our 2 dogs and 3 cats), and we truly can’t wait to officially become husband and wife.
