“That September pairing of purple and gold is lived reciprocity; its wisdom is that the beauty of one is illuminated by the radiance of the other.” Kimmerer, R. W - Braiding Sweetgrass To us, this quote speaks of a quiet harmony found all throughout nature. It reflects on two flowers rooted in balance, distinct in their contrasts but woven together with intention and meaning. This quote is in reference to not only the theme of our wedding, but to the theme of our story: Goldenrod and Aster. We have been around each other since elementary school. Our paths crossed long before we understood what they would come to mean. What began as familiarity slowly turned into something deeper, shaped by time and shared spaces. After years of friendship, hardships witnessed, wins celebrated, and losses mourned, our journey began as a couple. We entered love already knowing one another’s stories, strengths, and vulnerabilities. With trust and history as our foundation, our relationship felt less like a beginning and more like a homecoming. The moment we knew there was more, we were camping under the stars of Jones Pass. Without a fire and in a crowd of friends, we held hands for “warmth,” as Dylan slyly put it. That night, something had finally shifted between us, a simple and unplanned confirmation that was unmistakable. A one-of-a-kind moment that gently changed everything. Shortly after, our first kiss was on a hike in the Boulder Flatirons of Chautauqua Park, followed by an official first date hiking Grays Peak with our dog, Apollo (who dragged our butts up and down that mountain like he is born to do). From that point on, adventure became our love language. Miles, mountains, and muddy paws marked the start of a life being built side by side. The first time we shared “I love you” was at the top of Loveland Pass, having had no planning for it to happen in that moment. Five years later, we will be saying our vows in Loveland, Colorado, a small but meaningful synchronicity that feels like a quiet nod from the universe. Through all the ups and downs over the years, there has been one key factor that has remained constant: we have been surrounded and loved by YOU. Like Goldenrod and Aster flowers in the high alpine mountains, our story has only been able to thrive because of the environment around it. To the friends, family, and community who have allowed us to stand tall and bloom fully, it is our honor to share this special day with the people closest to us. We hope each and every person feels celebrated on our wedding night, just as you have always celebrated us. Life is only as good as the people you get to share it with, and we are endlessly grateful to share ours with you.
