Maid of Honor
Rachel and I met working together at Fairfield University, and from the start she felt like home. She's the person who can turn my whole day around with one look or one ridiculous joke, and no matter how big or small the idea, she's always in the passenger seat, music turned all the way up, ready to go on whatever adventure I've dreamed up next. In the summer of 2023, she moved in with me for about a month — a stretch of time we still talk about, lovingly and a little nostalgically, as our "summer of chaos." Fairfield will always be the town we call home, and even though life eventually pulled us in different directions, visiting Rachel in Boston has become its own kind of homecoming — a place where, no matter how chaotic life gets, I always find my way back to myself. I couldn't imagine getting married without her standing right beside me.
Best Man
Our moms are sisters, and we were born just five months apart (I’m the older one, a fact I bring up often and he tolerates). With that setup, being attached at the hip for life wasn’t a choice. It was destiny, or possibly a family contract no one remembers signing. Jesse became my brother, my best friend, and the person I can bring anything to. No judgment, but also no joke spared. He has never once let me off easy, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. He’s the first person I call when our team scores, and the first person I call when our rival does (so that he can suffer with me). He’s also the first person I call when I have a ridiculous thought, which he always answers with an even more ridiculous one. Before long, we’ve built an entire world around a fake baseball game that exists only in our heads, with stats, rivalries, and drama I’m fairly sure no one else would survive. Jesse, thank you for being my brother, my Golf League Commissioner, and now my Best Man. I couldn’t have picked a better partner in crime, or a better person to stand next to me.
Bridesmaid
After grad school, I packed up and moved 4.5 hours away to Norfolk, Virginia — a place I had never even set foot in — because Emily (who I'd also never met) told me, in one text, that it would be fine. She met me for dinner my very first week there, and I gave her my entire life story, complete with far more detail than any new friendship really requires. About a week later, on my birthday, (which she found out about from a mutual friend's Instagram post) — wasted zero time inviting me over for Kroger cake and a Bachelorette watch party, which somehow turned into a weekly ritual. We were both a little lost in that post-grad "what are we even doing" haze, and in the middle of America's largest naval base, over cake and reality TV, we figured out who we were and what our friendship was. That chapter eventually led us to becoming the life of a Carnival cruise together. Emily has always been sunshine and calm — a safe place to land, the person who knows exactly when to say yes, and just as importantly, when to say "hey, let's not" when I'm veering off my own path. I'm so grateful she's standing beside me.
Groomsman
Where to begin? When I started dating your sister, I showed up with a whole lot of chaos, and you could have been overwhelmed by it. Instead, you’ve been gracious, kind, and welcoming from day one. You didn’t just put up with the chaos, you embraced it. Whether we’re playing golf, talking MMA, dissecting your parlay performances, or just catching up on life, I’ve loved getting to know you and becoming part of your family. And let’s be honest, who understands what it’s like to live with Katie, and who’s better to commiserate with about it, than you? I can’t wait to officially call you my brother-in-law and make many more family memories together. (But really, I’m just excited about Bourbon being related to me... sort of.)
Bridesmaid
Haley is my future sister-in-law, and quite simply, someone who will do anything for the people around her. She's a strong-willed, determined sister, daughter, mother, wife, and friend — and over the past two years, I've watched her hold all of those roles at once with a kind of grace that genuinely leaves me in awe. She's the person Dylan and I both find ourselves turning to for advice, and someone I look up to for the way she keeps it all together, even when I know it isn't easy. I feel so lucky to be gaining her as a sister.
Groomsman
Over the last few years, I’ve watched you be a husband, father, brother-in-law, son-in-law, son, and brother, and you’ve done every one of those jobs with grace and humility. Honestly, it’s a little annoying how good you make it look, but mostly it’s been inspiring as I take the next big step in my own life. I’ve looked up to the way you lead your family with your values, and to the way you treat my sister with love, kindness, and loyalty, and above all, genuine admiration and respect. Watching the two of you has shown me what it looks like to truly choose each other, every day. As I begin this next chapter, I hope to do the same, and I’ll be leaning on you as my guide, since you’ve clearly already read the manual. I’m also looking forward to more Giants football (and the emotional damage that comes with it), more Trey Anastasio and Phish shows, and watching you absolutely outclass me on the golf course. I’ll keep showing up and losing, and I promise to be gracious about it. Mostly. Thank you for being the example I didn’t know I needed, and for being family in every sense of the word.
