We first crossed paths at Cane Creek. He was fishing, and I was out for a walk, but I couldn’t help noticing his huge, goofy grin. After three laps, I finally stopped and asked, “Catching anything?” He shook his head and at the exact same moment we both said, “It’s about being outside.” We laughed, and I asked if I knew him because he looked so familiar. That’s when we realized we both worked at Tech. As I turned to walk away, he called out, “I like your Chacos,” which completely made my day, and somehow we ended up talking a little longer than either of us expected. We didn’t exchange numbers, but he later told me that once he knew I worked at the University, he figured out how to find my contact info, ha. The very next day, he left for a work conference, so a whole week and a day passed. I happened to walk near his building to get some fresh air, not knowing he had actually walked to mine. When I wasn’t there, he decided to wait, and that is when we ran into each other again. That day we made plans to get coffee that Saturday, and the rest is history. We even went on two dates in one day, coffee that morning at Soul Craft and drinks at 37 Cedar that night, and we have been hanging out ever since! For our engagement, he created a scavenger hunt around town with all of our favorite local spots. It included where we first met, the coffee shop, the restaurants we loved, and even the place of our first kiss. It was such a fun and thoughtful way to celebrate our story, and I loved all the clues!
