Alex and Nile became friends during a lock-in at Dale’s church, they think. Neither of them is really sure of the origin story. Their friendship is sustained mostly through jokes at each other’s expense. It’s healthy.

It was love at first sight when Jenna spotted Alicia walking into the Denver Publishing Institute common room carrying a truly absurd amount of alcohol. They plan to run away together once their first husbands die.

At a party in college, Ian pulled Alex aside and forced him to drink gin and diet cranberry ginger ale out of a spaghetti pot “because all our cups are dirty.” Somehow, that led to a strong friendship between the two, with the added perk of Ian getting Alex his first big-boy job. Thanks, Ian.
