JENNA We met in the fall of 2012 in a PR class—Alex was, if I’m counting right, a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend. We fell out of touch after I graduated, reconnected after I moved to New York, and started casually long-distance-dating at the beginning of 2015. We made it official on March 20, when we were watching “Hercules” (the Disney one. Obviously.) at my apartment and Alex said, I think verbatim, “Do you want to, like, make this a Thing?” ALEX We were in PR class together, and I thought Jenna was cute. I have absolutely no memory of how we started speaking to each other, though. We had most of our classes together in the spring, and then she made me read dirty sonnets in Shakespeare class, so that's how we really became friends. We started talking again after college, and eventually I moved to New York to be with her because we were tired of Amtrak.
ALEX We were at the Dutton family cabin in New Hampshire. We went out in the canoe with Jenna’s parents to take pictures, because each member of the Dutton family has a special rock where they take a photo every year. This was my first time there, so I had to pick out a spot. I told Jenna I wanted her in my first lake photo, so I chose a nice mossy rock and made her get up there with me. Jenna turned toward her parents, and while she was posing for the camera, I got down on one knee and opened the ring box. When Jenna realized what was happening she said, “Yeah, okay!” Romantic. JENNA In my defense, it was a VERY ENTHUSIASTIC “Yeah, okay!”
