Things To Do

Cannon Beach is a vacation getaway for many, full of little art galleries and great restaurants, and you should certainly look all of that up. But it's also Dusty's family's home away from home, and so Jeff and Dusty have assembled a number of the town's lesser-known attractions for you. They may not all be part of the tourism brochures, but they're all near and dear to our hearts.
Haystack Rock

Haystack Rock

Cannon Beach, OR 97145

The tide pools at Haystack Rock are the location where Jeff tried to impress Dusty by doing the "dancer" yoga pose on a slippery rock, and then fell off the rock, cutting open his leg on barnacles and injuring his shoulder. When walking the beach, Haystack Rock is the main unit of measure used when determining how long our walk is going to be. Haystack Rock was also made slightly-more-relevant-to-daily-life by featuring in the movie The Goonies. There are tide pools at the base, and many of the iconic "Cannon Beach" kitsch sold in town prominently feature this geological formation. If you are lucky, you may be able to spot a puffin or two flying to their nesting grounds on the backside of the Rock. Check the tide tables to see when Low Tide is. Come back at High Tide to see a drastically different view! Here's a link to see when the next tide is occurring (note this is NOT for driving directions): https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/stationhome.html?id=9437585

Lovely Ponds

Lovely Ponds

295 E 2nd St, Cannon Beach, OR 97103

Also known as Cannon Beach's premier wastewater treatment plant - and a great place for birdwatching (seriously!)

Warren House Pub

Warren House Pub

3301 South Hemlock Street, Cannon Beach, OR 97110
, (503) 436-1130

Favorite walk destination. Cozy, great menu with options for all, and solid beer menu. Pool table and darts, too!

Lost Art of Nursing Museum

Lost Art of Nursing Museum

3285 South Hemlock Street, Cannon Beach, OR 97103
, (301) 208-8060

Museum is in the basement of the curator. Also, this is where the humbugs live!

Coastal Yarns

Coastal Yarns

255 North Hemlock Street, Cannon Beach, OR 97110
, (503) 436-1128

Tatty and Karen have purchased many a yarn from this store. Dusty made Jeff a scarf using yarn from this store, and is currently knitting the world's accidentally-largest baby blanket and singlehandedly keeping Coastal Yarns in business by buying skeins and skeins of yarn.

Ecola Creek State Park

Ecola Creek State Park

Ecola State Park Road, Cannon Beach, OR 97110

Embarrassingly, we have not explored this park. Mostly because we are almost always in CB in the dead of winter. Maybe this year will be the year of Ecola Creek exploration!

Eddie Bauer Outlet

1111 North Roosevelt Drive, Seaside, OR 97138
, (503) 738-2036

Most of our outerwear gear comes from here. Not because we're so in love with Eddie Bauer, but because everything is 50-80% off when we are in town. There are other stores at this outlet mall, too.

Camp 18 Logging Museum & Restaurant

Camp 18 Logging Museum & Restaurant

OR 97834

One of the only roadside attractions (and/or buildings at all) on Hwy 26 between Cannon Beach and Portland city limits. Home to very large cinnamon rolls.

For all the days along the way
