It all started with Dustin’s now-legendary pickup line: “What’s up?” That’s it. That’s the line. Somehow, it worked—and from that moment on, things have been anything but boring. Since then, Dustin and Sara have been racking up miles and memories across Washington D.C., Maryland, Missouri, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania—and every state in between that had decent snacks and clean rest stops. Road trip pros, these two. Life together has been a wild, wonderful ride: cooking shows (with mixed results), watching Big Bang on-demand (mainly Sara), endless Marvel movie marathons, concerts, church Sundays, and, of course, life with their adorable doodle dog, Evee—who may or may not think she runs the household. Their relationship has survived Kansas City Chiefs games (even the painful ones), life’s curveballs, and a never-ending cycle of Dustin asking Sara to pick the restaurant when we all know she is going to order chicken no matter what. After 2.5 years of laughter, love, and Evee photo ops, Dustin popped the question at Sara’s favorite restaurant—The Oyster Rock—during a beach trip to Ocean Isle, NC. (Spoiler alert: She said yes!)
