After years of hanging out together at car meets, bad relationships and life in general, they began dating near the end of 2022. There was no official "asking" or statement that they were now together, it was just implied. They both had liked each other for years, neither knowing how the other felt. They unfortunately missed their chances a few times. When they were hanging out one night, he would not stop talking, so Heather went in midsentence and kissed him. There were instant fireworks. After a trip to Seaside, Oregon, Nick said the first I love you. That he had always loved her. After that they knew "This is the one". He told her no matter what, this was forever. 4 days before the Deadpool and Wolverine movie that they had been waiting to see for over 2 years, he proposed. He had been trying to figure out the right time to do so and after receiving some news about the health of Heathers stepdad, he realized that life is too short to wait for the things you want. And he wanted her as much as she wanted him. Their years of friendship has now brought them to planning this day. They are starting a new chapter in their lives that will take that friendship and add marriage into the mix. From day one, this was forever.
