Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

This concert hall is a stunner. All spaces, including entrances, lobby, and hall are well thought out, beautiful and welcoming. The architecture is very modern but still warm and inviting. One great aspect of the concert experience is that no matter where you sit, you are never very far from the stage. This is a large concert hall, but all seats have good sight-lines and there is an intimacy in the space, even though it is a large hall.

Drawing inspiration from the country's most corrupt political boss, Tom Pendergast, Tom's Town Distilling Co. is downtown Kansas City's first legal distillery since Prohibition. The Kansas City Public Library: Central Library

Not just a library, but a museum, an art gallery, a cafe and all around place of loveliness. Make sure you go up to the rooftop, and down to the basement. And wander through the children's library. It is really all the reasons why I love a library and so much more. Easy to spend a couple of hours just adoring the space, before you even get to the books!

Country Club Plaza

This ritzy marketplace features an outdoor plaza adorned with romantic European fountains and sculptures, plus designer shops and great restaurants.

Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site

Thomas Hart Benton's life is present in both his home and his paintings, and both are preserved at Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site. A trip to the home and studio of the renowned painter, sculptor, lecturer and writer offers a glimpse into how the talented Benton lived and worked. Benton converted half of the carriage house into his art studio, which remains as he left it. Visitors can still see coffee cans full of paintbrushes, numerous paints, and a stretched canvas waiting to be transformed into another of his masterpieces. Thomas Hart Benton died in his studio in 1975.

The TWA Museum offers a genuine and honorable tribute to the history of TWA, one of the world's greatest airlines. And the passion of the volunteers to the memory of the airline is clearly evident.

Money Museum

The museum is part of the Federal Reserve building. They had several interesting exhibits, including coins minted under each president and a gold bar worth $500k. You can also see the cash sorting room and the vault. All of the money present is impressive! You get a free bag of shredded cash before you leave. There is a 30 minute tour available at certain times during the day.
