Even though Garrett and Julia went to the same high school and were only 1 year apart, they did not know each other. They did know of each other and saw one another around occasionally in the art room or wherever and they had friends of friends of friends. Garrett likes to think Julia wouldn't have dated him in high school because she was too cool for him. Julia likes to think she's glad she didn't know him in high school because she was mean back then. Fast forward to July 2019, Garrett reached out to Julia when he found out she was having a rough night and needed someone to talk to. He just let her talk about her problems and reassured her that while things may have been bleak then, there is always something to look forward to or to keep you motivated. From there the two could not put their phones down because that meant they would not be texting/talking with one another according to one source (Julia). On what the couple now considered their first date, they spent the entire day together. Woke up and went to the gym early in the morning, where Julia tried to impress Garrett by running 1 mile, and then couldn't breathe for the rest of the time. Not wanting their time together to end, they decided to get breakfast at chickfila where they spent not 1, not 2, but probably close to 10 hours just chatting and getting to know each other better. Yes, they were there for so long they had 2 meals there. Still not wanting their time together to end, they when to the Arundel Mills mall and saw the live action Lion King movie. This is why Julia likes to say Garrett made her cry on the first date (because how can you not cry??). The drive home was spent listening to Queen's greatest hits, the Moana soundtrack, and Rusted Root, the only 3 CDs Garrett had in his car that he thought Julia might like. Fast forward again to August 3rd 2019, Garrett asked Julia to officially be his girlfriend, and of course she said yes.
