River St. will be very crowded because of the St. Patrick's festivities, so it might be a good idea to visit midweek. Hilton Head and Saint Simons Island are a short drive away and absolutely beautiful. Please be aware that Savannah is a safe big city, but a big city nonetheless . Be aware of your surroundings and always travel by car at night, even if you are close to your destination.
