You can always take a Groome shuttle from Nashville to Monteagle, and in fact it brings you right to the Smokehouse Inn. There is also a RIDESHARE document on the "travel" section of the website, or just go here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Hjc-YBJvSQHSmG-vNLR2-O3o0mck6iabxpwHW9Q_iko/edit#gid=0 You can fill in the sheet if you're OFFERING a ride to folks or SEEKING one, and who knows you may even make a new friend!
We have a listing of some of our favorite spots in the "Things To Do" section of the website: https://www.zola.com/wedding/dudleyheidwedding/poi If you'd like to try out one of our wonderful local restaurants over the weekend, here are our recommendations and notes (additional info on the page linked above): High Point - Really good steaks in an old home where Al Capone once camped out, reservation suggested. La Bella Pearls - Delightful Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, BYOB, reservation suggested. Smoke House Patio Grill - Live music & cold beer, reservation suggested with a large party. Shakerag at the Sewanee Inn - Elevated comfort food and craft cocktails, reservation suggested for dining room service. Comfortable bar area including a sitting room and outdoor fire pits. Shenanigans - Classic Sewanee spot, good pizzas, sandwiches and beer. Come as you are. Hanks Corner Grill - Our neighborhood sports bar-type spot in Tracy City. Good beer and burgers and trivia on Thursday Nights. Come as you are.
The wedding ceremony and reception will both be at Cove Creek Farm in Monteagle. It is a working farm that rotationally grazes cows, goats and chickens to improve pasture health. You may see and smell animals during your time on the farm! Additionally, you will be walking on grass so please plan your footwear accordingly. The wedding ceremony site is a short walk from the reception area and you will be walking through the maintained pasture. Generally, late April temperatures in Southeast Tennessee are mild - average daytime high for 4/27 is 70 and the evening low is 49. We timed the wedding to happen during the warmest hours of the day, but of course keep an eye on the forecast to help you decide if you'll need an extra layer or a jacket to stay comfortable.
YES. Spring is the rainiest time in Southeast Tennessee and it's what makes it possible for our woods to come alive. While we're hoping for sunny skies on our wedding day, it's likely that you will experience a shower or two during your time here. If you plan on hiking, you definitely don't the rain to keep you from going - that's the best time to be out there!
Yes, we are providing childcare. Please contact Emily at emily.kathryn.heid@gmail.com for more details.
