In light of COVID-19, we wanted to let you know our wedding is going forward as planned. As always, your health and safety are our top priority. We have detailed the precautions we will be taking in the FAQ section of this website.
We met on the shores of Waubee Lake in Lakewood, WI as campers at a YMCA summer camp. Melissa was impressed by Ben's speed on the capture the flag field and Ben liked the way Melissa paddled a canoe. We bonded over a love for the outdoors, leftovers, and getting competitive with 10 year-olds during games of four-square. A few years later, we became co-workers at that summer camp and after a Michelin Star-level dinner prepared by Ben, we started dating. With the end of summer, Ben returned to Colorado College and Melissa went back to the University of Minnesota, but thanks to modern technology and unlimited text-messaging, our relationship grew. If absence makes the heart grow fonder, our hearts could probably not be more fond. Our relationship survived the test of distance, between Colorado and Minnesota in college, to Colorado and Utah after school, to Madison and Milwaukee during law and medical schools. Finally, in March 2019 we learned we would both be living in the same city. On March 15, 2019, Melissa matched into General Surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin and would be joining Ben in Milwaukee, where he was thriving as an attorney. With news we would be sharing a city, Ben asked if we wanted to share the rest of our lives together. Of course, we couldn't be more excited to start our next chapter and to share our wedding day with the people we love! As the day gets closer, we will continue to add more details regarding Friday night welcome drinks, hotel information, and a wedding day itinerary.
