Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Sarah Akin and Drew Johnson
We're so excited to welcome you to Black Mountain and Montreat. Black Mountain is home for us, and Montreat is such a special place for us. Montreat is one of our favorite places to go for a hike and it's also where we got engaged. These little communities are full of charm, great food, little shops to wander through, and plenty of beautiful spots to explore. We're thrilled to celebrate here with you.

Our Favorite Hike in Montreat

Lookout is one of our favorite hikes in Montreat and it's a classic hike! It's steep, but short and has one of the best views at the top!

Shopping in Black Mountain

Black Mountain has so many cute shops! Perfect for an easy walk around town. We recommend window shopping and stepping into a few along the way.

Robert Lake Park

317 Texas Road, Montreat, NC 28757

If you need a good playground for kids to burn off some energy, Robert Lake Park in Montreat is a great option. It’s an awesome, well‑loved playground with lots of space to run, climb, and play, and it’s open to the public from dawn to dusk. It’s an easy stop for families looking to let kids stretch their legs and have some fun outdoors

La Guinguette

105 Richardson Boulevard, Black Mountain, NC 28711

This cozy spot in downtown Black Mountain has a special place in our hearts. It’s where we went to dinner the night we got engaged! It’s also one of our go‑to places in town. The crepes and empanadas are amazing. If you’re wandering around and want something delicious and low‑key, this is a great stop.

Blue Ridge Biscuit Company

601 West State Street, Black Mountain, NC 28711

One of our favorite breakfast spots in town. The biscuits are some of the best!

Four Sisters Bakery

136 North Dougherty Street, Black Mountain, NC 28711

A cute little spot for a quick pastry and coffee before exploring town.

Lookout Brewing Company

103 South Ridgeway Avenue, Black Mountain, NC 28711

One of our favorite breweries in town and always worth a stop if you’re out exploring.

Foothills Grange

120 Broadway Avenue, Black Mountain, NC 28711

If you're looking for a family-friendly spot to eat, we recommend checking out the Grange at Foothills. It’s a laid‑back spot with really good burgers and plenty of outdoor space where kids can run around and play. It’s a fun, easy stop that feels welcoming for everyone.
