“I wanted to propose to Nicolette with a grand gesture of some sort, but didn’t know just how grand it would turn out.  I approached Coldplay’s manager Phil Harvey, with whom I got along well.  I was really nervous, but Phil's welcoming and wonderful demeanor put me at ease.  I told him my idea of proposing during the concert, and his eyes lit up.  “I think Chris might really like this idea,” he said.  He took a walk with Chris Martin the following weekend and, sure enough, he was into it.  A plan was hatched. Tour managers Arlene Moon and Lauren Rauch, video director Ant Barrett, and our friend, tour photographer Anna Lee, were brought in.  Laura Bacon, one of our UK puppeteer friends who was performing with us that day, already knew because I had texted her a month earlier about receiving “a package” -at which point she immediately texted back: “OMG ARE YOU PROPOSING?” So much for stealth.  The ring arrived, the date was set, and we each did an amazing job of keeping it all completely hidden from Nicolette. There, at Wembley stadium, in front of over 80,000 smiling Coldplay fans, I surprised her with the most wonderful proposal I could think of, aided by Chris Martin singing a bespoke proposal song to help me out. It went flawlessly. She had no idea! …and, most importantly, she said ‘yes.’” -- Drew "I knew. -- lol. Well, I suspected something was going on because everyone was being weird that day. Haha.
