With God’s timing guiding our steps, our paths first crossed at Exile Brewery in downtown Des Moines. We couldn’t have known that through the encouragement of good friends, we’d be reintroduced in March of 2021. At the time, Drew was living in Des Moines and Kait was in Minneapolis preparing for a nursing job in Florida. Distance defined our early years, but countless flights between Iowa and Florida strengthened our connection and our commitment. Two years later, on March 18, 2025, we found ourselves back on the sunset beach in Nokomis, Florida—the place where our story truly began. After reminiscing together, Drew asked Kait to stand. Tears filled her eyes as she felt breathless with an overwhelming sense of gratefulness and certainty. Drew spoke of his love and the future he hoped to build together. As he slipped the ring onto her finger, Drew asked her to marry him. With overwhelming joy, Kait said “yes!” —to Drew, to forever, and to the beautiful story God continues to write for them.
