How We Met

06.2015

Drew was leaving a graveyard shift and was heading to the gym on NAU campus. Meanwhile, I was walking my dog, Blue, through the South Fields as our normal morning routine. Drew and I both happened to be leaving and coming at the same time and recognized each other quickly. We had been introduced once prior to this meet up, but had never reached out. During conversation, Drew and I chatted about a recent break in at my apartment complex where police were involved. Drew asked why I had not contacted him, which my response was that I did not have his number and he then slyly gave it to me so I could call him in the future if anything like that happened again. We started talking more frequently and in true millennial fashion, sent each other Snap Chats of our daily lives. As our friendship strengthened, so did our love for each other. It didn't take long before we realized how we were meant to be together. The rest is history.

The Proposal

06.29.2019

It had been a long few years of medical issues and we decided to have an outing with our friends to celebrate what victories we had achieved. Little did I know, there was much more to this celebration! Drew gathered all of our closest friends and planned a surprise proposal. We went bar hopping in Flagstaff and as we were walking between spots, Drew and the guys disappeared. As we searched for them, I turned a corner and saw Drew on one knee and the words "Will You Marry Me?" written in chalk on the brick wall behind him. I was shocked, speechless and elated all at once. He asked, I said YES! The excitement didn't end there. Our last stop was at a wine bar. It was a nice day so the group suggested we sit outside. As we walked onto the back patio, both of our families and more friends were waiting to celebrate the exciting moment! It was perfect and I could not have asked for a better way for him to "put a ring on it!"
