Travel Note

Hotel Information

Currently we have two room blocks available, one at Hotel San Martin in Smartno and another in a 13th century castle on the Italian side. Our favorite experience was in Smartno but both are wonderful (details for booking are found scrolling down on this page) We will be updating this travel page as we identify additional room blocks but here are some other options you can reserve now if you'd rather not wait. Booking.com Options: Hisa Marica in Smartno (this was one of our favorite places we stayed and will try to get a room block but you can currently book it on booking.com) Belica Bed and Breakfast (we had lunch here and the place is very cute, not far from the venue) Aldilà Art Rooms in Smartno (we didn't stay at the place but anything in Smartno would be lovely) Morus Estate in Dobrovo (very modern place with great staff and a great wine bar overlooking the vineyards, also very close to the venue)

Flight

Ljubljana, Milan, Trieste, or Zagreb

Depending on where you'd like to travel before or after the wedding we would recommend flying into one of the following airports: Ljubljana, Slovenia (LJU) 90 minute drive to venue, easy airport and easy drive Milan, Italy (MXP), 5 hour drive but offers some better value flights and is a good option if you want to travel in Italy Trieste, Italy (TRS), 30 minute drive to venue Zagreb, Croatia (ZAG), 3 hour drive to venue and good option if you'd like to travel in Croatia and Slovenia

Castello di Spessa is a great wine and golf resort on the Italian side in a 13th century castle and is about 10 minutes away from the wedding venue. Hotel San Martin

This is a great option on the Slovenian side in the medieval town of Smartno and about a 10 minute drive from the venue. There are only four rooms available at this hotel and the options are: 2 Family Rooms (includes Queen and two Single beds for 180 Euro per night), Suite for 130 Euro, Superior Room for 120 Euro. Rental Car

SIXT

We have had good luck with Sixt car rentals in the past. If you are renting in Italy be sure to let them know that you are driving across the border to Slovenia so they can give you a car with a special sticker on it.
