Rent e-bikes in Smartno either at the information center in the city center or at Hotel San Martin. We Recommend calling ahead of time to reserve bikes and also make reservations at a winery or restaurant for lunch on your route.

Visit Stekar which is a small family owned winery and do wine tastings or make reservations for dinner. A very authentic meal from the region will be served by the mother of the family.

Great family owned winery run by the five brothers of the family. Call ahead for reservations and plan to stay for a couple hours.

Climb the six story look out tower at sunset for a beautiful 360 view of the Julian Alps and Adriatic Sea.

Walk through the Tolmin Gorges
The Soca Valley is known for the deep green blue waters. There are a number of gorges in the region but the Tolmin gorges were a great stop for a short walk/hike.

Make a reservation at Hisa Franko. Ana Ros was rated the 20th best chef in the world last year and has a 23 course tasting menu with wine pairings that is a complete experience. Make reservations 4-6 months in advance and be sure to stay at the property. It is expensive but unforgettable.
Rent a rowboat in Lake Bled
Rent a rowboat in Lake Bled and row out to the church to ring the bell. Lake Bled is an iconic spot in Slovenia so expect to see tourists here.
Stay in Lake Bohinj
Lake Bohinj is a very quaint and quiet area with a number of outdoor activities and great hiking.
Visit an Apiary - Čebelarstvo Ambrožič - Kralov Med
We went to this apiary or “Čebelarstvo” near Lake Bled but you can good others in the region where you might be. Bees are a big part of Slovenian culture and history.
Hike Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the Dolomites
There is an eight mile loop that is moderate in difficulty that is a loop around the three towers. Beautiful views the entire route with an option for a beer at the end where there are some beer huts. Start the hike early from the Rifugio Auronzo. You can park here if you get there early enough but will have to take a shuttle from the bottom of the mountain if the lot fills up. Hike counterclockwise from the rifugio.
Hike around Lago di Braies
Walk around Lago do Braies then rent a rowboat and boat around the lake.
