CHANGE OF WEDDING DATE

Sometimes we plan, but God has better plans for us

As of March 16, per the recommendation of the CDC, we decided it was best to prioritize the health of our loved ones. Our new wedding date is Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 5 pm. We hope that you can make it! Thank you for all of your love and support so far! The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. [Proverbs 16:9] It's disappointing to have our plans change, but we trust that God will help us through it and make it all work out better than we could have ever imagined.

How We Met

This story begins with a wedding. The wedding of our good friends Sam and Sara Smith. I was a bridesmaid and Drew, a groomsman. Sounds like a fairytale? Well, it didn’t quite play out like a Disney movie. Well, not at first. Freshly out of college, I was not looking to date. However, I couldn’t help but notice Drew’s smile from across the rehearsal dinner table. I could tell there was something good about him. I reasoned to myself, “Sam’s a good guy. He must have good friends.” A few years later, I came to realize that it was the Holy Spirit in me who was drawn to the Holy Spirit in Drew. The next day at the reception, Drew asked for my number and I got the feeling that the crush was mutual. I was right! ;) Months and many prayers later, we became boyfriend and girlfriend and we began our long-distance relationship.

The Big Question

April 28, 2019. It was a beautiful Sabbath day. Bears (Taryn) was visiting and I was excited to explore Yosemite more with her. I was happy that she could get more time to get to know Drew. We didn’t do a hike but decided to do a photoshoot instead. Drew forewarned me that he needed to be at Tunnel View at golden hour to take a good picture. I thought to myself, “That would be the perfect place to propose”. I then started to get nervous. However, when I realized he wasn’t in a rush to get to Tunnel View, I started to lose hope. We got to Tunnel View at golden hour, we took a few pictures then Drew said, “Alright, let’s go”. My heart sank. I knew Drew is the man God wants me to marry, but I had to be patient. Drew then led us up the hill to a better view. El Capitan was to our right, Half Dome in the middle, and Bridalveil Falls to our right. I thought we were going to take another group picture but then only Drew came to stand next to me. It’s all a blur from there. All I remember was Drew hugging me and then getting down on one knee. I became so emotional that all I could do was say yes, hug him, and marvel at the gorgeous yellow ring.

Our Mission

Our greatest desire is that our wedding not only reveal our love for each other, but our love for God and HIS love for ALL of us. Thank you for sharing this beginning with us! We feel God’s blessing through you all.
