FAQs (and COVID)

Question

What's the COVID protocol?

Answer

We're not requiring masks on the boat, but please wear one if it makes you feel more comfortable. We want you to pick up souvenirs in NYC— not whatever COVID strain is trendy. So in order to protect more vulnerable guests, we have some restrictions in place. Guests must be double vaxxed and boosted OR receive a negative COVID test (home-testing is fine) within 48 hours of the event. Text a photo of your vaccination card to Kate (517-507-7209) or Drew (248-943-2155) by June 1st. If you're going the testing route, text us your results within 48 hours of the ceremony.

Question

So, your wedding is on a boat?

Answer

Yes! We are getting married on the Aqua Azul Yacht located on Pier 60 between 20th and 21st Street. The ceremony will take place on the top deck of the boat. After the ceremony, we’ll set sail around Manhattan, cruising under the Brooklyn Bridge and stopping at the Statue of Liberty. Cocktail hour and dinner will be accompanied by music, dancing, and enjoying beautiful views of the New York skyline at sunset and twilight.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

There is a parking lot directly next to the Aqua Azul in Chelsea Piers at Pier 60. Note that overnight parking is prohibited at Chelsea Piers. Guests will enter from the Pier 60 parking lot through the 11th Avenue entrance. Once inside the parking structure, continue down the dock on the right side. The Aqua Azul is located at the end of the dock. There are two cheaper parking options nearby: Edison ParkFast at 507 W. 21st Street and Edison ParkFast at 161 10th Avenue. There is also a website called spotangels.com for street parking options. Cabs and rideshares such as Uber and Lyft can enter the parking structure to drop off guests. However, guests will need to walk further down the dock to board the boat. The Aqua Azul can be accessed easily by the subway if you’d like a true New York experience. The closest subway stations are at 23rd Street and 14th Street on the blue line (A, C, and E trains). We recommend the Citymapper app to help you use public transit.

Question

What if I’m late to the ceremony? Will you leave without me?

Answer

Don’t be late!!! Plan to board promptly at 6:30 pm, giving yourself ample time to park and arrive. Welcome drinks will be served before the ceremony.

Question

Are there elevators on the boat?

Answer

Yes, there are elevators to take you to each of the four decks.

Question

How many bathrooms are on board?

Answer

There are bathrooms on multiple floors and nine toilets total, yay!

Question

What if I get seasick?

Answer

We will have Dramamine on board. It’s a “yacht,” so we don’t expect to feel much motion, but we encourage you to take precautions if you’re concerned.

Question

What’s for dinner?

Answer

Dinner is buffet-style with something for everyone, including our vegetarians, vegans, gluten-frees, and celiacs. Please reach out to us ahead of time to confirm that you need a vegetarian or vegan meal so we have an accurate count. There is a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres following the ceremony, then dinner at ~8:30 pm, so plan on a late lunch!

Question

Is it an open bar?

Answer

YES, OF COURSE.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Dress in cocktail or formal attire. Tuxes, suits (with or without ties), gowns, cocktail dresses, and dressy jumpsuits are all great. We’ll set sail just before sunset, so bring a layer if you’d like.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

You can find our hotel blocks on the Travel page and reserve from there. Or, you can stay at another hotel or Airbnb, just make sure you read reviews! Reach out to either of us if you'd like advice on where to stay.

Question

What should I do Friday and Saturday before the wedding?

Answer

All guests are invited for welcome drinks on Friday evening at Grey Lady's private room (77 Delancey St) from 7-9 pm. It will be a capped open bar, so once the cap is reached, you're welcome to open your own tab or order food separately. No specific dress code. Katelyn's wearing a dress. You could wear one too. Or jeans. Or a dress over jeans. On Saturday, we encourage you to explore the city and enjoy yourself, but not TOO MUCH before the wedding. We want everyone to make it onboard!

Question

Is Katelyn changing her last name?

Answer

No :) and Drew isn’t either.

Question

I still have questions, help.

Answer

We got you. Reach out to Katelyn (517-507-7209) or Drew (248-943-2155) directly and we’ll help you out.

Question

Excuse me, Mr. Andrews, but I've been doing the math in my head and it seems that with the number of people there are on board, there aren't enough lifeboats.

Answer

Not enough by half actually. Gosh, Rose, you miss nothing do you? I had originally intended for there to be more, but it was thought by some that it would make the decks seem too cluttered.
