If you have any questions other than those listed here, please text Erin (215-520-9170) or Jimmy (267-229-2622).
Question

When should I arrive in Dublin and how long should I stay?

Answer

The length of your stay is completely up to you. We will be arriving in Dublin on the Sunday before the wedding (which is taking place on Thursday) to complete last minute errands and tie up loose ends. Close family will likely arrive on the Monday or Tuesday before the wedding. Events for our guests do not begin until the evening before the wedding (Wednesday night). We do, however, recommend giving yourself a little time after landing due to possible jet lag. We have been told by some family and friends that they will be traveling to other cities/countries on the days leading up to the wedding and/or days after the wedding. This is not only our wedding - it is also your vacation! So make it your own!

Question

What is the time difference between the East Coast and Dublin?

Answer

Dublin (GMT) is 5 hours ahead of the East Coast (EST).

Question

How long is the flight from the East Coast to Dublin?

Answer

The flight to Dublin is about 6 and a half hours for a nonstop flight from the Philadelphia area.

Question

What is the weather like in Dublin in August?

Answer

The temperature in Dublin in the summer typically ranges from 50-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Please pack clothing options that will allow layering, such as light jackets and sweaters. It is not a bad idea to have a light rain coat handy because rain is always a possibility in Ireland! How do you think it stays so green!?

Question

Can I use a ride sharing app in Dublin?

Answer

Yes. Both Uber and Free Now (taxi) apps service Dublin city. Trams ("LAUS") and buses ("DART") are more affordable options, though. If your destination is less than a 20-minute walk, you can always explore!

Question

What type of plug adapter is needed to charge my electronics in Ireland?

Answer

You will need a Type G travel plug adapter in Ireland to charge all of your devices. A portable charger/power bank is useful, as well. If you don't want to carry a clunky travel plug adapter around during your trip, portable chargers usually are slim and fit in your pockets and small bags comfortably. Don't assume you will be able to charge your phone at the pub - your American charger will not fit into their outlets. If this thought gives you a little anxiety, I highly recommend bringing both the Type G travel plug adapter to use in your hotel room and a portable power bank to keep on your person as you wander. Amazon has a ton of options for adapter plugs and portable chargers.

Question

If I am staying at the Castle on the evening of the wedding, do I still need to book a hotel room for that day?

Answer

Although this doesn't hold true in every situation, we would like to say "Yes." You will be leaving your hotel around 2:00 PM on the day of the wedding, and you will be arriving back to the hotel around 12:30 PM the following day. Most hotels will force you to check-out at 11:00 AM and will not allow check-in prior to 4:00 PM. As you can see, there is a gap in hotel availability when referencing the wedding schedule, which would leave you without a place to stay for hours if you decide to check out of a hotel on the morning of the wedding. However, if you plan to get ready very early in the morning on the day of the wedding and have a place to stay for the hours in the time lapse, then please feel free to reconsider.

Question

When will you know if all guests can be accommodated at the Castle on the wedding night?

Answer

We will have a better idea by early spring if all of our guests will fit in the castle the night of the wedding. As we receive RSVPs from family members, we will keep this website updated. If for any reason all of our guests cannot sleep at the castle the night of the wedding, we will be in touch with you with transportation options so that you can get back to your hotel safely.

Question

Is there someone I can contact if I have questions while I'm in Dublin?

Answer

You can always text or call the bride and groom during your trip, but, unfortunately, we cannot promise to be available throughout the entire duration. If you cannot reach us and have questions while you are in Dublin, or just want to see what other guests are up to (maybe you would like to join the cousins who are bar hopping or want to ask if other guests are interested in a particular museum tour), you can text the individuals below. These contacts are aware that you will be reaching out, so don't be shy! Important: Please download and use WhatsApp to send and receive free international texts and calls. Julie Doyle / "Aunt Jule" (Erin's aunt) +1 267-663-6934 Aunt Jule is always busy being social and planning something fun. She loves to have a drink and a chat. She does, however, go to bed before midnight on most evenings, so if it is very late, you may not get an answer. Cathy Hourmouzis / "Aunt Cathy" (Jimmy's aunt/godmother) +1 267-761-8489 Aunt Cathy is an angel and is always willing to help. She also will likely be in bed before midnight, so please let her sleep! Aunt Cathy is an early riser, though, so if you have questions in the morning, she's your gal!
