We met like many millennials, we swiped right! Jessica made the first move bonding over feeling that ranch is overrated (Sorry ranch lovers). We learn we each had a deep affection for nature, dogs, and comedy. All this learning prior to meeting each other, after weeks of exchanging message after message Doug made the next move and we had our first date. We went to mini-golfing in the middle of July which may have been one of the hottest days in Pittsburgh. After the 18th hole it was kismet that there was a Dairy Queen across the street. A much needed treat, and of course made it easier to make our first date a little longer. We would then explore the Northside, many hikes in Frick Park, and virtual movie nights with friends. Over the next few years we were lucky enough to celebrating love of our friends and family, traveling across the states ( CO, NC, WV, TX, WA), friends and family having little ones. We have learned how to support each other at the highest of highs and lowest of lows that life has to offer. Which brings us to our engagement. On the weekend of April 27th and 28th Doug planned some belated birthday celebrations (because of course Jess was recovering from being awake for over 36 hrs working ) we went to Phipps Botanical Garden, Chantal's cheese shop, and rounded out what Jessica thought was the perfect day at Apteka. Unbeknownst to Jessica, Doug had the ring in his pocket ( THE ENTIRE DAY). In true Doug Drew fashion he was just waiting for the perfect moment which just wasn't at any of those places. Doug insisted we go on a hike the next day, and so the plan was made. We started off our Sunday with coffee and vegan donuts from Kaibur, then drove out to Frick park. We started off our hike on the new Fern Hollow Bridge, we paused taking in the sight of the lush bright green trees flourishing in the spring. With no one around ( or so we thought) Doug got on one knee to pop the question and Jessica basically blacked out from excitement. An older couple stopped and snapped photos of the moment which is something we will always cherish (Thanks David!). Which is what brings you all here, we are beyond excited to celebrate with all of you.
