Kara and Doug will depart from the Alohilani Hotel lobby at 6:45 pm for the 15 min walk along the beach to the viewing location. We will find a spot to sit along Fort DeRussy Beach to sit and watch the fireworks show which starts at 7:45 pm. Bring snacks, a towel, or beach chair to sit on!
Join us at 10:30 am for a casual breakfast of pancakes, mochi donuts, and coffee at the Liliha Bakery Waikiki in the International Marketplace on the 3rd floor. Afterwards, make a break for the beach or explore the International Marketplace to shop for souvenirs!
We plan to swim at Waimea Falls at 1 pm (park entry included with luau ticket). The park includes a botanical garden with a paved 3/4 mile walk to a waterfall swimming hole. Life jackets are provided and mandatory for swimmers. Changing stations & bathrooms are available to change from swimming attire into Luau attire. The luau begins at 5 pm. We have booked the Gold Package seats. This luau is said to be one of the more authentic and intimate luaus on the island and is held in the gorgeous Pikake Pavillion in the gardens. (Fun Fact: this was almost our wedding venue!) The show lasts until 9 pm and includes cultural activities and demonstrations, drinks, dinner, and an awesome show! *Please note that tickets to the luau sell out very quickly, so book ASAP if you would like to join!
