Our journey began with a little help from family. Stacia’s sister, Sarah, had been friends with Doug for almost ten years when she finally decided that he was a potential match for Stacia. Taking matters into her own hands, she arranged for the two of them to cross paths. Before Stacia even met Doug, her mother had the chance to meet him on a cold Chicago night while visiting Sarah. It took Doug a moment to realize that this wasn’t just a casual conversation but rather an interview—an opportunity for a mother to determine if he was worthy of meeting someone amazing. A few weeks later, Stacia traveled to Chicago for her mother’s birthday, and sure enough, Doug received an invitation to join the celebration. That fateful night was when we first met. At the time, Doug was living in Chicago, while Stacia was in North Carolina. Despite the distance, we embarked on a long-distance relationship that lasted nearly a year. The miles between us only strengthened our bond, and after countless flights and phone calls, Stacia accepted a job in Chicago, and we were finally able to be together in the same city. Nine months after her move, Doug proposed, and Stacia said yes! Now, we are excitedly planning our wedding, which will take place this August. Both of us come from large, loving families and are very family-oriented. We are incredibly grateful to have the support of friends, family, and parents to start this next journey of our lives. We can’t wait to celebrate all of our love with all of you!
