Question
What's the venue like?
Answer
The ceremony and reception are being held at Bridal Veil Lakes, about 30 minutes east of Portland. It is a large, beautiful, forested space perched above the Columbia River Gorge. It is hilly and there is lots of room to run around, but exercise caution -- you'll encounter uneven ground, rocky areas, and some steep drops. There is also a small pond, and we'll have access to a couple of canoes and life jackets. There is an indoor bathroom facility, but everything else is outdoors, so plan your footwear and attire accordingly.

What should I wear to the wedding?
Answer
Wear something nice so you look spiffy in the photos. Renaissance Faire attire is also permitted. Keep in mind that the ceremony and reception will be outdoors, so plan your attire and footwear accordingly.

What will the weather be like?
Answer
Typical temps in September are mid-70s (Fahrenheit) for a high and mid-50s for a low. Rain is always a possibility. Keep an eye on the forecast for the most up-to-date information.

Where should we stay?
Answer
We have blocks of rooms at the DoubleTree and Courtyard hotels in Portland - the link to book is on the Travel tab. There are lots of other hotels in Portland, as well as hotels in Troutdale (between Portland and the wedding venue) and many VRBOs/AirBnBs in the area.

How do we get to and from the venue?
Answer
There will be shuttles between the venue and the DoubleTree Portland. There is also ample parking at the venue. Due to the location of the venue, getting a taxi or ride share to take you back to your accommodations after the festivities will be challenging (or impossible), so we highly recommend utilizing the shuttles or driving yourselves. For local folks, consider a taxi/ride share to the DoubleTree to catch the shuttle.

What are the plans for the weekend?
Answer
There will be a welcome reception in Portland on Friday, and the main event will be at Bridal Veil Lakes on Saturday starting in the late afternoon. See the Schedule tab for details. We'll round out the weekend with dim sum on Sunday in Portland.
