Lucy was never into online dating. She kept herself busy with friends and activities until...she moved to Nashville and knew no one. Crazy what a girl will do to get out of the house. But then she started grad school and had her hands full with that, an internship, and a full time job. She went on a handful of dates through Match and Tinder and Bumble but nothing worth writing home about until... Three years (to the week) after Lucy, Doug moved from Minnesota to Nashville for a new job. He was busy getting to know the city and all it had to offer and found himself on Bumble since it didn't require a Facebook account like some of those other apps. He matched with Lucy and soon she initiated a conversation. Before meeting, they bonded over watching and rating Super Bowl commercials from two different states. After about a week of consistent text flirting and conversation, Lucy was eager to meet this guy face to face. On February 15th, the original first date location was changed last minute due to one restaurant being closed for President's Day (seriously?). That turned out to be ok, because four hours later they closed down The Sutler, which is now one of their favorite restaurants. She noticed he was wearing a blazer and he was glad she wasn't 6 feet tall. A week later, they did the same thing at another restaurant and Lucy knew she wanted to get to know this guy more. He was kind and genuine, consistent, confident and smart, and could hold a good and genuine conversation (read, not a flake or a meat head). He of course, thought the same thing and couldn't resist making repeated dates. Although they don't agree on their official anniversary of the start of their relationship (clearly, it should be the first date) or what kind of dog to get (non-shedding), Doug popped the question at a beautiful (though not his originally planned) waterfall on October 21, 2017 and Lucy enthusiastically said YES!
