Skyline Drive
Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlottesville is close to many beautiful hikes and vistas. Skyline Drive is a beautiful drive through Shenandoah National Park with many hikes of varying difficulty. Or if you’d rather just take in the scenery, driving along the 90+ mile parkway with gorgeous stop offs is also a great option!
Monticello
Founding Father Thomas Jefferson’s home is minutes away from downtown Charlottesville. Tours of the home are available and definitely worth it for those interested in history and architecture.
Wineries
There is an abundance of vineyards and wineries in the area - almost 70 in just the greater Charlottesville area! We have been to ~56 so far. Hopefully we will have visited almost all of them by April 2022 (challenge accepted). Below is a list of our all-time favorites: Gabriele Rausse Michael Shapps Thatch Wisdom Oak Septenary Blenheim (Dave Matthews' vineyard!) Stinson King Family Glass House Keswick Mount Ida (for the views and they also brew their own beer)
Breweries
The Charlottesville area has some great local and craft beer. Below are a few we like: Blue Mountain Brewery Three Notch'd Brewery Starr Hill Brewery Devil's Backbone Basecamp Brewpub Decipher Brewery Kardinal Hall (fun beer hall atmosphere with good selection and HUGE menu)
