After freezing to death on the patio with a heat lamp, Doug and Colleen decided to see each other again. Another COVID date w "beautiful" weather for outdoor adventures. They hiked City Creek Canyon
It turns out, this "Utah Ski Bro" did not live in Utah. Colleen accused Doug of "catfishing" her when she found out he actually lived in San Francisco!
Doug was horrified that as a surgery intern Colleen's lunches always consisted of saltine crackers in the PACU. He packed her a real lunch for breast surgery clinic, complete with a note!
We took our first trip together about a month into dating, and went down to Southern Utah to explore the national parks!
We even tried our hand at sand boarding
Doug spent most of the spring in Utah and even met some of Colleen's friends before heading back to the office in person in SF at the end of April
We kept in touch with texts, phone calls, and even Zoom dinner dates (as was the trend in COVID times!). I had a vacation week blocked off in May, and I planned to come out to SF to visit him then
Doug took Colleen to his favorite winery in Napa, Larson Family Winery
As a fun adventure, we used the rest of Colleen's vacation week to travel to Hawaii!
We had both never been, and it was fun to get to explore a new place together.
Doug met all of my cointerns at a bbq on June 30, where we celebrated making it through our surgery intern year
Colleen was able to make it out to San Francisco over the summer when she had weekends off at the VA
For Colleen's birthday we took a trip down to Cambria, Paso Robles and the central coast with one of Colleen's vacation weeks
After a busy summer going back and forth to San Francisco, Doug came back out to Utah and we hiked to the hot springs in American Fork Canyon
Doug continued to bond with Olive Cat (who predates him).
We went on more fall/winter hikes with friends
Took a trip to Miami to escape the snow and met Doug's cousin, Grant!

Colleen was barely surviving her trauma nights rotation (6p-6a, 6 days a week), but luckily had Valentine's weekend off for a quick trip to SF for a Valentine's date at Top of Mark!
To celebrate surviving trauma nights AND Doug moving to Salt Lake, Doug and Colleen enjoyed a well-deserved vacation week
It was nice to have a new start together!
While in New Orleans for Lynne and Ian's wedding, Colleen gave Doug a tour of the Tulane School of Medicine, including the Mural she helped paint in the surgery department
Olive Cat did not enjoy the scrub caps in her likeness that Doug got for Colleen. He's "not really a cat person...".
Trying to win the Utah Surgery Mountain Challenge hiking in the foothills once the very little snow we had that season melted
Colleen "miraculously" got MDW off in the Burn Unit and we took a trip to Moab to go rafting!

During a vacation week during bariatric surgery, we enjoyed a trip to Italy for Doug's friend Chase's wedding, inlcuding a fun waterside dinner at "Il Pirata"
We floated the Provo River on Colleen's birthday

Colleen was in two back-to-back weddings on 9/17 (Kenzie and Brian) and 9/18 (Ally and Steve) in Nashville and the Jersey Shore. Doug decided she was fired from trip planning after that
