Short hike with epic views of Pioneer Peak and the Mat-Su Valley. The "West" Butte trail is suitable for most guests - there are several sets of wooden stairs. Kids 3+ often hike this with assistance and encouragement. There is another trail on the opposing side that is much shorter but involves rock scrambling and can be very steep/dusty. Not recommended for little ones or anyone with minor mobility challenges.
A fabulous local spot for a quiet dinner or Sunday brunch - reservations generally required (small restaurant with limited seating and hours). Feather and Flour prides themselves on using all locally sourced ingredients from local farms, fisheries and makers.
Located about one hour north of Palmer, guided tours allow you to hike out on the glacier. This is an incredible way to experience one of Alaska's best glaciers firsthand. Booked tours required.
Outbound Heli takes guests to glaciers and different points all around Alaska. The pilots are fabulous and it is such an incredible experience to see places untouched by civilization.
Downtown Palmer is an adorable, quaint little town with hometown gift shops and eateries.
For the little ones - this park is great for all ages - there is even a smaller, area for early walkers to explore. The park is fully fenced in and ADA accessible. The park is safe, clean and has working bathrooms (not porta-potties!) .
The Tap Room serves light meals - not a FULL dinner menu. Great place to try out local craft beers.
Another great local brewery - inside features a small plant shop with items from local crafters.
