Please wear whatever makes you comfortable. The ceremony will be taking place in Wailua River State Park at the fern grotto. We will board an open-air riverboat to get to the ceremony location, so please wear shoes you feel comfortable stepping on and off a boat in (including a few steps with handrails). There will be a short paved walk to the ceremony site after disembarking the river boat. IMPORTANT NOTE: We will all be standing for the entire ceremony. The fern grotto cannot accommodate traditional seating but there are a few benches at the site if you need to rest. After the ceremony, we will attend an evening luau dinner and performance. Coastal breezes can make things chilly after sunset.
Although we adore your children, we have elected to have an adults only ceremony and reception. However, there are several local, vetted, and highly recommended babysitters on Kaua'i. Here are some options: Childcare Kaua'i www.childcarekauai.com Tutti Vacation: www.tuttivacation.com
We do not. Being together with our loved ones on Kaua'i is the perfect gift to us.
No! A standard sedan handles the main paved highways fine. 4WD can be helpful if you plan on driving certain rugged, unpaved back roads, but rental car agreements usually void coverage if you take the car off-road.
There is no place on earth like the beaches of Kaua'i. The snorkeling is incredible. Wildlife abounds. You will find yourself asking if the lagoons are man-made, they are so perfect. However, the ocean in the winter months (particularly on the North side) of the island can be treacherous. For safety, swim at lifeguarded beaches only. Lifeguard towers on the North Shore can be found at Ke’e Beach, Ha’ena Beach Park, Waioli Beach Park, and Hanalei Pavilion. On the East Side you’ll find towers at Anahola Beach Park, Kealia Beach, and Lydgate Beach Park. On the South Shore there is a tower found at Poipu Beach Park and in Hanapepe, at Salt Pond Beach Park.
Most shops and restaurants on Kaua'i close by 9 pm. Trails marked on Google maps are not always reliable and often cross onto private property. Do not cross "Keep Out" signs and respect the locals by parking in designated pull offs only.
