We are Better Together! #WalmonJoy
Our first date led to forever. Oliver and Dorothy met in June of 2016. They decided to meet for their first date at Roast Rider’s Coffee Shop in Virginia Beach. Dorothy: He walked in with his jeans and a pair of Polo duck boots, and I thought "Oh Lord," since I wasn't a fan on those boots! Then we talked for hours and I realized that we have a lot in common. Oliver: I walked in to the Coffee Shop and knew that my outfit was smooth as butter, especially with my Polo boots! To my surprise, Dorothy and I had a great conversation and chemistry. I felt more comfortable with her than I had in my entire life with any person. We gelled from the start! Almost eight years later, after raising three teenagers into young adulthood, we decided it was Our Time. We are choosing to love, care and support one another for the remainder of our lives that God grants us together. #shedoeshedoeswedo!
On May 22, 2021, Oliver had a secret that he was hiding. It was an engagement ring. He had spent weeks trying to figure out the best way to propose, but could not settle on a plan. Being an early riser, Oliver found out what time the sun was rising that morning. Dorothy was awake and looking at the Internet on her phone. Oliver then asked Dorothy if she wanted to go see the sun rise, fully anticipating that she would not want to do such an impromptu outing. To his surprise, she said yes and so they went out to the beach to watch the sun rise. As they were watching the sun rise, Oliver pulled a box from his pocket and Dorothy turned to see what he was doing. As he opened the box, Dorothy said "Oh my God!" in surprise. Oliver asked Dorothy if she would marry him and she said "YES!" What Dorothy didn't know was that Oliver had asked her father, Robert Woodhouse, his permission for this proposal the week before.
