From Manhattan College to "I Do"

It all started in English class over at Manhattan College in the Bronx. I was desperate for one more group member for our project, and the professor pointed to the back row. There he was, Dimas. The kid who used the lecture as his own personal nap time. I thought, “Great. I’m doomed.” But turns out, the sleepy guy in the back was actually hilarious, brilliant, and way better at getting straight A's than I was. The project included volunteering over at a soup kitchen where I accidentally dropped an entire tray of Jello on his really nice sneakers. Luckily, he did not get upset with me and just laughed it off. I have no idea what possessed him to ask me out on a date after this but here we were. We decided our first official date should be at TGI Fridays. No idea why. Just felt right and not to mention we were two broke college students. Independently, we both showed up wearing plaid. Like, exactly the kind of couple coordination you do after 5 years, not date #1. We laughed so hard and just continued on. Then I dropped water on him. Once. Then twice. Then a third time. He still says he married me out of pity after I waterboarded him at dinner. I say it was destiny. From sleeping in English class to saying “I do,” he’s still the best group project partner I ever picked. And I promise to only spill on him twice at the wedding.
