Don and I met during the first day of our 'real jobs' at CGI new-hire onboarding. We spent a veryyyy long week in the same conference room learning how to prepare for our new jobs and also building a tight friendship with the other recent college hires. As one of the only girls in the class, I found myself joining all the fantasy football league antics just so I could stay social with the group. Looking back, I am very glad I did. I think Don first started liking me when I almost beat him in the championship game... let the record show that I was winning all season and even won the first round of the championship... (who knew the championship went two weekends???). But it wasn't until a year later that I took my maid of honor, Anna Lanier Fischer, as my plus one to the CGI Holiday party and Don took his groomsman, Todd Jorgenson, as his plus one. When we were there, Anna Lanier whispered to me that she knew Don was into me because he couldn't take his eyes off me the whole night. I shrugged it off, but unbeknownst to me she told him while I was in the bathroom at the pregame that he better make a move or she was going to herself. After getting his courage up, we ended up dancing at the holiday party and had a wonderful time. The rest is history. Don and I have so many great memories traveling, enjoying DC, and going to sporting events, but the defining moment when I knew he was the one was when he agreed to move to New York City with me. We've had such a fun adventure in this crazy, but lovable city and I'm so happy he chose to take on this adventure with me. Cheers to choosing each other every day for the rest of our lives. I am so happy to marry you, Donovan! I love you!
Our first jobs out of college, McKenzie and I were hired to the same company. She of course graduated a semester early and me a semester late. I immediately noticed her as the prettiest girl in our orientation group, so I did my best over the next few weeks to try and get to know her. Over those weeks, I realized she was also probably the smartest person in our group. At this point, I of course had the biggest crush on her. Only took me a year since meeting her to do something about it. Whoops!
