King Shaka International (DUR) is the primary airport serving the KwaZulu-Natal province. The airport is named after "Shaka Zulu", one of the most influential and feared monarchs to reign the Zulu Kingdom from 1816 - 1828, when he was assassinated by his half-brothers, Dingane and Mhlangana. It is just over an hour's drive to the Midlands, and there are plenty of car rental companies to choose from, all conveniently located at the airport. Durban airport is also the gateway to many private Game Reserves located in Northern Natal. More on this later... British Airways and Emirates both fly direct to Durban with connections in London and Dubai, respectively. There is also the option of easy connections on a multitude of domestic airlines to Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg.

It is the primary airport for domestic and international travel to/from South Africa. A four and a half hour drive on the national motorway, the N3, will get you to the wedding venue.
