How we met

September, 2020

Long story short: we met online :) Long story long: Ours is a story of right place, right time. Meaghan was living in Westchester, and Daniel was living in *Central* Jersey- about 2 hours away from each other. One fine early-September day, Dan met up with his friend from Mahopac (so close to Meg!) to hike Breakneck Mountain. During the hike, Dan’s friend encouraged him to put himself out there and give dating a(nother) chance, and Dan very quickly found Meaghan, despite the fact that she was on the other side of the Hudson (in Pearl River) for the majority of the day! They quickly hit it off and the rest, as they say, is history.

First Date

9.27.20

Dan & Meg met halfway from each other in the city for the first time (since he was living in NJ and she was living in Westchester). They had brunch at Park Avenue Tavern (or PATs, as we call it) in midtown, where Meaghan’s best friend Marie was ALSO on a date in eye sight (safety first!). We didn’t want the date to end, so we started walking around until we landed at Tudor City Greens, this little park a few blocks from PATs. We found a cute spot on a bench to sit and talk for hours getting to know each other more. Still, we didn’t want the date to end (and Meaghan was in a steps competition at work…) so we decided to walk some more around midtown Manhattan until finally (5+ miles later) the date came to a close. We ended the date both knowing we would see each other again very, very soon.

The Proposal

4.15.2023

Meaghan & Daniel had big plans this beautiful Saturday to go to Dan’s Nanny’s 80th birthday party on Long Island. Dan convinced Meaghan it was going to be a rager, so to be safe we planned to meet Dan’s dad in midtown and all take the train together. Dan’s dad’s train into the city to meet us “was delayed quite a bit,” so Meaghan & Daniel went for a walk to kill time. Dan led them right to Tudor City Greens, their first date park (just a few short blocks away from where we were meeting Dan’s dad in Grand Central). As soon as they entered the park, Meaghan could barely hear Dan over how hard her heart was beating! Dan kept it short and sweet, telling her the story behind the beautiful ring he was about to give her, a story about unconditional, long-lasting love. Meaghan couldn’t say yes quick enough! To make this sweet day even sweeter, Dan surprised Meg with a small surprise gathering with (some of!) their close loved ones at Meaghan’s best friend Marie’s apartment (again, conveniently located just 2 blocks from Grand Central!). Before you ask: yes, we did make it to Nanny’s 80th that same day. We can’t wait to celebrate with ALL our loved ones in September 2024!
