Whitefish
Downtown Whitefish always great to stroll around in and windowshop! If you're looking for a manageable walk from downtown, there are lovely paved paths that lead to Whitefish Lake. If you're looking to get outside, we recommend kayaking or paddleboarding on Whitefish Lake--you can rent equipment in town or at the gear shack at City Beach. If you'd like a hike without driving to Glacier, you can hike the Danny-On trail up Big Mountain for gorgeous views of the valley. Be sure to take the chairlift down!
Glacier National Park
Going-to-the-Sun Road may not be open at the time of the wedding. We still encourage everyone to visit the areas of the Park that are open! If the road is not entirely open, people may bike the length that has been cleared. Regardless of the status of Going-to-the-Sun, you can rent kayaks at Apgar Village at Lake McDonald and enjoy breathtaking views, or save the paddling and take a boat tour from the historic Lake McDonald Lodge. Vehicle reservations are required from 6am-3pm. Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance, or the day prior. We recommend getting reservations as soon as possible, or entering before 6am or after 3pm. Reservations must be made at recreation.gov *The vast majority of Glacier Park does not have cell service, including Lake McDonald Lodge. Please plan accordingly.
