Gambrill State Park
Park with overlooks offering views of the Frederick and Middletown Valleys, as well as 16 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. About 10 minutes from Frederick. Entrance fee is $3 per vehicle for MD residents & $5 per vehicle for out of state residents.
Musket Ridge Golf Club
Fun fact: This is another wedding venue that we toured! While there are several other golf courses in and around Frederick, we can attest to the beautiful views of the Catoctin Mountains at this course.
Catoctin Mountain Park
Park with picnic areas and 25 miles of hiking trails with difficulty ratings between easy and strenuous. About 20 minutes north of Frederick.
Gettysburg National Military Park
Jon has probably already told you about the historical and meaningful significance of Gettysburg; he was taken there a lot as a kid. Learn about the Civil War's bloodiest battle, about 30 mins from Frederick. There's a trail that goes around the park. Get a car, bike, or ebike and take a moment to admire the beautiful landscape and absorb the history. Don't have time to drive that far? Monocacy National Battlefield is another Civil War battlefield located right outside Frederick.
