Church is where it all began! I grew up in Bethel AME Church in LA, and little did I know Joel’s grandmother (Grandma Hazel) was there too. My dad who works in construction landed the best job of all - the one at Grandma Hazels house. I would always see Grandma Hazel when I would visit and we talked about school, work and of course guess who – Joel. This started a relationship that would last for years to come. My grandmother was special to me, and she had someone very special in mind for me too. While visiting LA in 2003 the plan was for me to take Dominique out on a date, and guess with who, my little cousins Mia and Brian. We went to see the movie, Finding Nemo! I vividly remember, my grandmother giving me $200 and saying, “spend it all”. We literally bought everything at the concession stand. (LOL) Little did we know, our paths would meet again at Grandma Hazels funeral in 2013. As I was sitting at her funeral crying like a big baby, I saw Dominique walking by and it was like my grandmother sent me her last gift, and the best one of all. We went to a Karaoke bar, talked for hours that night and have been inseparable since. Joel asked me to join him for Thanksgiving 2013 with his family. We went on long memorable road trip from Baltimore to Pensacola and then to Birmingham. I started Residency at Harlem Hospital in 2014 and then we had our biggest surprise and blessing, the birth our first child Luke on 8/14/2014. On June 4, 2016, Joel sent me to get a massage and later that day I took an uber which took me to Grandma Hazels infamous house. As I walked into the backyard, he got on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said, YES! Our dreams were coming true. We had also just found out we were pregnant again, and welcomed our second boy, Alexander, on 1/25/2017. Since relocating to Las Vegas, our precious baby girl, Giselle was born on 7/30/2020. We have had an amazing journey together so far! We have a different story, a love story that will last forever.
