DJ and Mary became good friends during the spring break of their freshman year. The two were nearly inseparable but decided to be just friends until they came back for their fall semester of sophomore year. DJ was an amazing boyfriend and planned plenty of intricate dates that almost always ended with a bouquet of flowers for Mary. During their two years of dating they shared plenty of adventures including four national parks, three Colorado 14ers, ATVing, kayaking, cross country, being resident assistants together, brunches, cooking, Universal Studios, lots and lots of Rosaries, and of course falling in love with each other. DJ and Mary felt that God was calling them to the holy sacrament of Matrimony for a while but were waiting for the right time to get engaged. For Valentine’s day of 2021, Mary gave DJ a book called “101 Questions to Ask Before you Get Engaged.” They did two questions a day, and the last question fell on the Easter Vigil. They finished the book together in the pew before mass on Holy Saturday, and Mary was more than ready to have a ring on her finger. On Easter, the next day, DJ planned a full day of adventure including a farmer’s market, brunch, the beach, the Melting Pot, and eventually a sunset Rosary on the beach. When DJ and Mary finished the Rosary, they stood on the beach where they first started dating as they watched the sunset. There was no one around them and it was as peaceful as the beach could be. At this moment, DJ got down on one knee and said, “I love you” to Mary for the first time and asked her to be his wife. Mary said I love you too for the first time and yes, of course! (DJ wants to note that Mary cried the entire time) Ever since then, the couple has joyfully been preparing for matrimony!
