Guéthary, as a whole, is one of Marine’s favorite places in the world. Wander through the village toward the main square at the Fronton, follow the path down to the ocean at Parlementia, and take your time—sharing a meal, a drink, and the simple joy of being by the ocean.
Biarritz is another place well worth exploring. Set along the ocean, it invites you to stroll through the city center, wander in and out of shops, stop for a drink, and enjoy some truly great food—all with the ocean never far from view.
Bayonne is another city not to be missed. For a true Basque experience, this is the place to go. Set along the Nive River rather than the ocean, Bayonne invites you to wander through its narrow old streets, admire the colorful architecture, and slow down to enjoy local specialties—cheese, ham, and a good glass of wine. While you’re there, be sure to visit the Cathedral, a beautiful and timeless landmark at the heart of the city.
To our volleyball lovers—don’t worry, we didn’t forget you. If you’re up for a game, head to Anglet. This beach is home to more than eight beach volleyball courts and is lively with players year-round. Even if you’re not playing, it’s a beautiful spot for a long walk along the ocean, with great energy and endless views.
Just 15 minutes from Guéthary lies Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Stroll along Rue Gambetta, savor some Muxu at Paries, and stop for a drink or two as you soak in the charm of this lively seaside town.
Spain is just 30 minutes from Guéthary! Take a stroll through San Sebastián, and don’t miss the Old Town—where you can enjoy delicious tapas, taste the famous Basque cheesecake, and sip on refreshing sangria while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere.
