Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Krista Sigala and Dillon Rippey
When we came to Asheville in April, we didn’t have the kids. Naturally we took a crash course, touring the city, exploring the lands and trying as much food as possible. Here were some of our favorites!

For a Bite To Eat:

Corner Kitchen:
In the Biltmore Village, the restaurant's in one of the old homes George Vanderbilt had built for the workers he had on staff at his estate. It's 129 years old. They offer hand crafted foods using as much local produce and proteins as possible. $$$ - Reservations recommended Nine Mile:
Laid back Caribbean inspired and vegetarian friendly restaurant. Very accommodating to food allergies and dietary restrictions. **Krista enjoyed their food so much that she came back two nights in a row. The second night, she ordered two entrees. $$ - No reservations Chestnut: Craft food and cocktails from a from scratch kitchen using local farmers. Dinner menu rotates monthly. $$$ - Reservations recommended Sunshine Sammies: Creamery and bakeshop focusing on a natural/health conscious ingredients. **Ask Trish about her ice cream sandwich! $ White Duck Taco: A la carte tacos inspired by worldly flavors. **Dillon LOVED the crispy porkbelly with pickled watermelon rind. $

The food we missed:

Ukiah - $$$ - Japanese Smokehouse Chai Pani - $$ - Indian Restaurant Troyer’s Country Amish Blatz - $ - Deli Breweries: Endless! SO SO MANY Biscuit Head $ - Breakfast

To go see:

The Biltmore Estate - 250 room French Renaissance chateau on 8,000 acre estate. Catawba Falls - 2.8 mile round trip hike to two series of stunning waterfalls. About 25 min outside Swannanoa. Blue Ridge Parkway - Take yourself for a drive to see the fall foliage. Just do it, it's beautiful! Visit the Craggy Gardens too - We didn't make it to there but it came highly recommended.
