Who would've thought that one conversation about ice cream and taco joints would lead to days of endless conversations, laughs, and special moments?! Sheena and Dilan met in Austin, TX in April 2022 and after one short conversation, shared their first date at *of course* a gelato shop. It must have went well, because next thing, they were spontaneously at the nearest Hopdoddy, sharing a booth and having burgers. If you know Sheena, you know she would've never chosen a messy burger as a first date food item, but that day, something made her say yes. She even blurted out that she was moving to Memphis come July, and secretly hoped that it didn't scare Dilan away. It didn't.

Dilan decided to run a few trick plays on his way to the endzone. He knew Sheena wanted to celebrate her 30th in Napa and decided it would be the perfect diversion. He kept the whole weekend a surprise, down to the living arrangements and surprise guests, and Dilan took the opportunity to get down on one knee...and tie his shoes...in the middle of a winery. It was quite the moment, and Sheena's friends even managed to grab some photo evidence. Cut to a couple months later when Sheena and Dilan traveled to San Diego for Labor Day weekend. Distracting her with kayaking, Cali burritos, and the zoo, Sheena became completely fooled. However, he was focused on the clouds and how they might just ruin his perfect plan. On September 1, 2024, Dilan took Sheena to Sunset Cliffs to watch the sunset together. They had done something like this once before, ~2 years prior, except during sunrise in Austin, when he asked her to be his girlfriend. There at the proposal spot, right before sunset, with the sun finally peaking out from behind the clouds, was a custom-created postcard with a picture of the very cliff they were on. Sheena flipped the postcard over to find the message, "WILL YOU MARRY ME" written on the back. When she looked up, there he was, on one knee. It's safe to say their smiles that evening said it all.

Postcards have become cute and quirky mementos for Sheena and Dilan and their relationship. Sheena started sending Dilan postcards - via snail mail - after she moved to Memphis, sharing sweet nothings, memories, and hopes for the times to come. It became their special way of staying connected from afar. Even though they are closer in distance now, postcards have remained precious to them, helping them document important moments. It's easy to see why Dilan wanted to include a postcard on their special day. Throughout this weekend, you'll see little nods to this part of their story.
