Our story began at SIPS, and for those who are not familiar, is a weekly event on Wednesdays in Philadelphia during the summer. The entire workforce in Philly goes to happy hour at bars and restaurants that have great deals, and typically happy hour turns into an all-out night. We barhopped with our respective friends and knowing we had to work at 6:30 AM the next morning, we both made the responsible decision to… go to Mcgillan’s for karaoke night. As the night went on, we ended up talking in the same group with our mutual friends. At one point, Diego got up to give the performance of a lifetime singing “Burnin Up” by the Jonas Brothers. Between the music, laughter, and a little bit of chaos, something clicked. Neither of us realized it at the time, but that night was the start of something special. Over the next couple of months, we would see each other out at the bars and continue the casual conversations, but nothing more happened. It was all until one day, we were together at a bar per usual, and Diego dropped the big question… “Do you want to hang out before the sun sets?” Sarah’s response was… “If you want to!” Not necessarily the most validating response for Diego but it wasn’t a no! After that, our first date was the Goat’s Beard in Manayunk and the conversation was constant, talking about our childhoods, college years, and careers. We left the date and knew there was much more to come. Two days later, the weekend arrived and we went day drinking together. At the end of the night, Diego popped the next big question and asked Sarah to be his girlfriend. Who knew Diego only needed one date to know Sarah was the one! Over the years, we have built a life full of love, laughter, and our own traditions — like the annual Kentucky Derby party, travels all around the world, and spending time with our friends and family. We can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter surrounded by the people we love most, and thank you for supporting us through our journey!
