Question

From Liberia Airport (LIR)

Answer

The drive from Liberia Airport to Santa Teresa is approximately 3h, 30 minutes. Last hour is a bit hilly, bumpy and rural. You can rent a car in Liberia Airport or book a shuttle or private car to Santa Teresa. We do recommend to sleep for a night in Liberia and leave early next morning.

Question

From San Jose (SJO)

Answer

The drive from SJO Airport to Santa Teresa is approximately 5h. You need to be half an hour in advance for the ferry in Puntarenas to Paquera. Ferry is 1h. And then, 1h, 30 min of rural road to Santa Teresa. Ferry tickets can be payed online and need to be purchased in advance. There are 6 ferries per day starting from 5:30am to last one at 20:30.

Question

Tambor Airport

Answer

You can also take a small (very small) avioneta from Liberia or SJO to Tambor (approx. 40 min) and then take a 40min shuttle to Santa Teresa. One way flight from SJO go for around $130, 240 round trip. https://www.flysansa.com/

Question

Transportation

Answer

-Private car or uber goes for ~$250 one way https://mydaytrip.com -Shuttle goes for $60 pp one way https://tropicaltourshuttles.com/ -Ferry tickets https://www.quickpaycr.com/ -Car rentals (from Liberia or San Jose) ~$30-50 per day but there is a weird insurance you have to pay, they rip you off with this, expect around $1500 for a week. If you are only coming to Santa Teresa, we don’t recommend renting a car, just use shuttles.
