It all began on May 27, 2023, at a wedding celebrating love—never expecting to find our own. But fate, and a crowded dance floor, had other plans. While Portuguese music filled the ballroom, we were introduced on the dance floor. Before nerves had a chance to set in, we agreed to our first dance. It felt like we were floating, and before we were ready, the next song came on... Bad Bunny! Luis thanked Diana for the dance and apologized—he had “Best Man duties” to attend to. We crossed paths again at the bar, where Luis was ordering a round of espresso martinis for the table. He raved about his signature chocolate espresso martini recipe and teased Diana that she needed to try one of his. We kept finding each other throughout the night—on the dance floor, at the sparkler send-off—and eventually at the afterparty, where we made a playful $20 bet. Luis, who was living in Stamford at the time, bet there was no way you could take a train from Stamford to Hartford. We agreed to disagree and we setup our first date.

That first date was simple but unforgettable— We started off with a walk with Kobe along the boardwalk and stopped for a little boat ride across the stamford harbor. At Sign of the Whale in Harbor Point we ordered oysters and made great conversation, so much so that we skipped entrees until we were ready to cap the night with some espresso martinis. From there, our story grew in little moments: festas, quiet nights in, weekend trips, and one especially memorable jet ski ride at Lake Zoar where Diana (who can’t swim!) jumped in anyway, trusting Luis completely. Those moments became the foundation of something real, something lasting.

By September, Luis knew he didn’t just want Diana in his life—he needed her in it. Surrounded by rows of apple trees at Lyman Orchards, he asked her to be his girlfriend. She smiled, double-checked that he was being serious, and then said yes! That “yes” was the start of everything. Our relationship continued to grow stronger. We fell deeper in love, introduced each other to our families, closest friends, and communities, and built a life full of shared laughter and unwavering support.

Fast-forward to April 2025 and a beautiful day at Wickham Park. Where a simple walk became the start of forever. Along the path, Luis had left a series of letters—each one telling a chapter of their love story. At the end of the trail, he got down on one knee and asked Diana to marry him. She said yes, and just like that, a new chapter began. We’re so excited to celebrate this incredible journey with all of you.
