If you plan to come solely for our wedding, a long weekend is enough time to celebrate with us and explore Lima. Many of our guests plan to visit Machu Picchu, which requires a flight to Cusco and ground transportation to Aguas Calientes, a city at the base of Machu Picchu. From personal experience, if you plan to hike Machu Picchu, we recommend spending a few days exploring Cusco to acclimate to the altitude. This blog (https://www.tierrasvivas.com/en/travel-blog/how-many-days-to-spend-in-cusco-and-machu-picchu) contains detailed information to plan that trip. Additionally, Peru offers the Amazon rain forest, Nazca lines, the Sacred Valley, Rainbow Mountain, beaches, and more. For trips lengths of three to fourteen days, this website (https://www.kimkim.com/c/how-many-days-should-you-spend-in-peru) has plenty of itineraries.
At the time of posting, Peru requires a negative Covid-19 test and electronic health sworn statement (online form: https://djsaludviajero.minsa.gob.pe/dj-salud/) to enter. Wearing a mask and face shield is required to board the plane and pass through the Peruvian airport. While in Peru, the use of one KN95 mask or two surgical masks is required to enter certain closed spaces, and face shield is required on some forms of public transport. As of December 10, 2021, proof of covid-19 vaccination and matching personal identification is required to enter closed spaces. Certain places in Peru have instituted a nighttime curfew, which requires people to return to their homes/hotels by a certain hour.
