Cindy and Shad first met at church while talking to a mutual friend. After meeting, they didn't speak or see each other again for months, until Shad randomly showed up at Cindy’s apartment to help her move. He’d been enlisted by another mutual friend, not knowing it was actually Cindy who was moving. After the busy and eventful moving day, Cindy treated everyone to a late dinner as a thank you for helping her move. After that, they didn't talk again for several months. Over time, they began texting and chatting with each other more frequently. Until one day, Shad was stuck in stand-still traffic while headed home. So Cindy invited Shad to hang out instead of spending another hour in traffic. They decided to go to a German bar followed by an all you can eat sushi restaurant. There's a longstanding disagreement on whether or not this was the first date (Shad says it was!)
We joke about our "long engagement" which was a period of one and a half years of talking and dreaming about the day we would get engaged and begin this next chapter of our lives. This moment finally happened on January 15, 2019 after much anticipation of the ring being finalized by the jeweler. Cindy had been feeling quite ill and decided to take a mid-day nap while Shad headed downtown to pick up the ring as soon as the jeweler let him know it was ready. Showing up like a superman at 3:45PM knowing Cindy had to leave the house at 4:00PM, the proposal was tender and heartfelt. The realest of proposals, in midst of time crunch, rain, illness and naps.
Cindy couldn't wait to get married to Shad ever since they begun talking about marriage back in late 2016. Valentine's Day 2019, Cindy's dream came true (and Shad, too)! It was a beautiful civil ceremony which took place in San Francisco City Hall, in front of Cindy and Shad's parents, maid of honor Alyson and her husband Daniel. We couldn't have imagined a more perfect day to begin the rest of our lives together; despite the heavy rain, traffic, and other things not going "according to plan", our God is good and prevails all. We are SO blessed to have the opportunity to marry our best friend in front of loved ones.
